Universal Electric Corporation (UEC) is a global leader in customizable power distribution systems, located along Georgetown Road in Canonsburg, PA. R3A worked with UEC to complete a feasibility study and programming exercise for various sized and configurations of additions/renovations to their existing 89,000 SF pre-engineered metal building, which contains both offices and manufacturing areas. The various conceptual schemes ranged in size from 60,000 to 90,000 SF, and proposed multiple approaches for how to expand the existing office and manufacturing areas to accommodate the rapid growth of the company.
In addition to presenting multiple options for the building size and configuration, R3A also developed multiple facade studies. UEC expressed a desire to improve the facility’s presence along Georgetown Road, with an interest in conveying a ‘world headquaters’ corporate appearance to visitors and potential customers. R3A was able to accomplish these aesthetic goals, while still working within the Owner’s constraints to use a pre-engineered metal building system for the addition.
