Carnegie Mellon University, School of Computer Science
Formerly a shell space, the renovated 1400 Suite will create a noticeable presence for the School of Computer Science. The new space will accommodate students, administration, faculty, and instruction by providing classroom, office, collaboration and lounge spaces.Located on the first floor of the Tepper School of Business at CMU, this space serves the School of Computer Science as a satellite location to their existing space within the Gates and Hillman Centers.
Since the location of the suite prevents access to direct natural light, large expanses of glazing at the suite entrances and transoms/sidelites are provided throughout the suite to transfer ample borrowed natural light from the adjacent corridor. The classroom spaces have tunable light fixtures, which can be adjusted to provide more comfortable artificial light. Additionally preserved moss accent walls have been provided throughout to incorporate biophilic elements into the space.
Tiered learning hall with fixed seating, flexible classroom, four hoteling/breakout offices, pre-function/lounge areas for rest and gathering.
