The captured lobby spaces went into the student lounge and the “Science on Display” lab. The lab spaces are designed to be flexible with overhead power and furniture on wheels so that they can be reconfigured as needs and projects change. The conference room has been updated with cleaner detailing and current AV technologies. The program includes CEE lab, research lab, student work areas, student lounge, and a conference room.

This renovation is for the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) lab located on the A-Level of Porter Hall at Carnegie Mellon University. The existing spaces were used as a research lab, student work areas, conference room, and under-used lobby space for the CEE department. This project consolidated the student work spaces into one larger room and created a small student lounge.
