Confidential Government Agency Office

This project involved renovating and downsizing a departmental office suite, reducing the overall footprint by nearly 50% while enhancing operational efficiency, security, and user experience. The scope included a comprehensive reconfiguration of the floor plan, updated material and finish selections, and a reorganization of workspaces to support a more efficient and contemporary workplace environment. In response to the building’s limited access to natural daylight, the design emphasized creating a lighter, brighter interior through the strategic use of glazed partitions. Simultaneously, high levels of visual and acoustic separation were achieved with double-paned demountable glass partitions incorporating semi-opaque film, allowing daylight to penetrate deeper into the suite while maintaining privacy and effective sound control.

Security

A key component of the project was the addition of a traditional courtroom. Because portions of the suite, including the courtroom, are accessible to the public for judicial hearings, security was a primary consideration throughout the design. Clear sightlines, strategically controlled access points, and bullet-resistant glazing and partitions at the public areas establish a secure separation between public and private zones while maintaining an orderly and welcoming environment. Finishes were thoughtfully selected to convey dignity and permanence while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic consistent with the renovated suite, contributing to a calm and respectful environment for court proceedings.

Sustainability

All products and materials were selected in compliance with the Buy American Act (BAA), with an emphasis on sustainability, durability, and energy efficiency. Energy-conscious LED lighting, long-lasting materials, and efficient building systems were incorporated to support reduced operational costs and environmental impact. Together, these architectural strategies create a secure, efficient, and thoughtfully designed judicial workplace that supports staff well-being and provides a professional, composed setting for public proceedings.
