Nevillewood - R3A Architecture

This luxurious 18,000 sq. ft. private residence is located on a 2 acre plot in an exclusive golf course community in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With its use of clay tile roofs, cast stone and stucco exterior cladding and pre-cast accents, the house closely resembles a Mediterranean villa. Outdoor living spaces are maximized using patios, balconies and terraces. To accommodate the community’s roof pitch requirements, the decks were designed with curved arch top windows and free standing arches at the façade which helped to break down the scale. Adept use of different colors and textures in the exterior cast stone masonry helps in gradation of scale.

This newly constructed, privately owned, single-family home took 12 months to build. The project included extravagant millwork, steel frame and wood frame construction, heated flooring, imported marble, multi-zone HVAC system, gold leaf paint, custom kitchen and more.

The home’s 3 story atrium takes advantage of the gentle change of grade at the rear of the property to let in plenty of daylight and open up the upstairs corridor, living room and ground floor party room toward the scenic views at the back of the house.

R3A designed the private residence overlooking the 17th green at the Nevillewood golf course, which included several exterior and semi-covered terraces for gathering and entertaining. These terraces were carefully detailed and incorporate a raised pedestal paver system above a roofing membrane and drainage assembly to allow for safe and maintenance free use throughout the year.
