The project required the integration of complex regulatory, safety, and operational requirements into a clear and efficient facility layout. A primary challenge was safely separating chemical and radiological processing streams while maintaining operational efficiency and strict compliance with environmental and safety standards. Working closely with Environmental Health & Safety and campus engineering teams, the design was driven by precision, control, and risk mitigation—balancing highly technical infrastructure with intuitive workflows and secure access.

R3A developed a highly organized facility that prioritizes safety, containment, and long-term performance. Advanced strategies for secondary containment, material handling, and controlled access ensure secure operations, while dedicated zones clearly separate processing streams to reduce risk and improve efficiency. The building integrates robust environmental systems and infrastructure to support safe handling of hazardous materials, while thoughtful site integration reinforces the University’s broader sustainability and stewardship goals. The result is a high-performance facility that centralizes operations, enhances safety, and supports the long-term management of critical campus resources.
