The R3A / Moody Nolan team realized Penn State York’s vision for an updated nexus for student services. The project involved demolishing a two-story portion of the original structure to accomplish the proposed scope of work, which involved the addition of a fitness center, locker room, kinesiology classroom, and multi-activity court which supports basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Renovations to the cafe, Rosie’s, included a coffee bar with cashier stand, hot food service counter, management office, security grills, enlarged refrigerator/freezer, and reconfiguring of the dishwashing room. Associated utility renovations, food service equipment connections and HVAC adjustments were also part of the scope. The structural system for the new building included a spread-footing foundation system with a two-story steel frame structure above and full penthouse roof enclosure.
