In the spirit of renewal and revitalization of Pittsburgh’s existing structures, a former truck manufacturing building becomes a Class A office and flex space for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). This creative reuse project involved a thorough renovation of the former Shadyside factory which entailed all new mechanical, electrical, curtain wall systems, and 10,000 sf. of walkable mezzanine. A new, free-standing 3-level elevator, stair tower, and main entry was built outside the central floorplan so as not to diminish floor area and to create a distinctive entry portal. The building also includes one structured parking deck and on grade parking for 300 vehicles.
